- Lead the end-to-end design process from concept development to production-ready solutions, ensuring all designs go through rigorous DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analysis.
- Translate internal product briefs, caregiver feedback, VOC data, and customer reviews into innovative, user-centered product concepts.
- Apply deep materials knowledge to select the most suitable materials that balance aesthetic with structural durability and cost-efficiency.
- Create advanced CAD models and detailed technical design and engineering documentation, utilizing FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and structural simulations to validate mechanical integrity and performance before prototyping.
- Design and validate mockups, prototypes, and functional test samples.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, sourcing partners, and marketing to balance creativity with cost targets, supplier capabilities, and timelines.
- Optimize design-to-prototype cycle times and improve design efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of manufacturability, functional performance, and customer satisfaction (targeting 4.5+ product ratings).
- Communicate effectively with international manufacturing partners, including Asian/China suppliers.
- Deliver 4–6 fully engineered, manufacturable product designs within the first 3 months.
- Develop final production-ready samples of 12–18 new SKUs by the end of 2026.
- Achieve 30% contribution margin in design cost modeling.
- Optimize and meet quarterly design-to-prototype cycle time targets within the first 6 months.
- Implement a structured, user-driven design process for top legacy products within 12 months.
- Establish and maintain a repeatable, scalable design documentation system.
- 10+ years of experience in Industrial Design or Product Design.
- 8+ years of experience taking products from concept to mass production.
- 5+ years designing mass-produced consumer, HME, or DME (patient care) products.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, prototyping, simulation, and testing.
- 8+ years working within manufacturing and supplier constraints.
- 3+ years communicating and collaborating with Asian/Chinese manufacturers.
- 3+ years designing products for marketplaces influenced by public customer reviews.
- Experience with mechanical CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape.
- Experience with cost modeling and margin-focused design decisions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to structure qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable design improvements.
- Deep understanding of ergonomics, usability, and user-centered design principles.
