- Perform metallurgical activities and analysis in accordance with internal request system and in agreement with the Metallurgy & Chemistry team planning.
- Analyze test results, write technical reports and conclusions, ensure delivery of technically correct results
- Actively participate in local and global improvement and customer projects related to products, efficiency and innovation, in collaboration with different departments and teams
- Support the development of the local team in technical topics and training activities
- Propose and develop new analysis procedures according to internal/international standards and customer specifications
- Lead special assignments in core activities from Global Laboratory organization, enhancing the sharing among different laboratories/units.
- Master's degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Materials or Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge and experience in Metallurgy, Metallography, steel making process, Heat Treatment for Steel (e.g. induction hardening), surface treatments and forming operations.
- Experience of failure analysis in the field of steel, including material properties and their performance in different applications
- Knowledge of materials science, materials structure and microstructure, mechanical and thermal properties, materials processing and fracture mechanisms, metal forming processes and technologies
- Experience of laboratory instruments (e.g. stereomicroscopy, light optical microscopy, microhardness tester, X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscope)
- Knowledge of national and international standards related to metallurgical processes (e.g DIN, ASTM).
- Experience with ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, and statistical data processing
- Knowledge of problem solving and root cause analysis methodologies and tools
- Proficiency in Italian and English, both written and spoken
- Availability to travel, for short periods, is expected.
- Knowledge and experience about Lubrication and Tribology, bearings manufacturing processes and applications will be considered a plus
