Offer DescriptionThe perfect bicameralism outlined by the Constituent Assembly, in the Italian Constitution of 1947, played a useful function in the initial phase of republican history, in the sense of favoring the representativeness and pluralism of parliamentary functions and in the sense of favoring the bringing back into parliamentary channel of a series of tensions, conflicts and requests present in the social body. So much so that, in recent legislatures, proposals for a constitutional revision aimed at formally overcoming perfect bicameralism have multiplied, while, in fact, on a conventional basis, an alternating bicameralism has already been established which seems to significantly deviate from the intentions of the Constituent Assembly.
