Are you passionate about solving technical challenges and diving deep into failure analysis for cutting-edge automotive microcontroller products? Do you enjoy working in a collaborative environment, mentoring others, and building long-term technical expertise? As a Staff Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer, you will play a critical role in understanding and reproducing customer-reported failures, performing detailed analysis, and driving solutions for improvement. If you're ready to take on this exciting opportunity and make a real impact, apply now to join our new dynamic team in Padova!Job Description
As a Staff Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer, you will be responsible for customer return analysis for automotive microcontroller products. You will work on understanding and reproducing customer-reported failures, performing in-depth technical analyses using advanced tools and equipment, and providing expert guidance to ensure efficient resolution and continuous improvement. In your new role you will:
  • Understand the customers failure description and reproduce failures in the application or at device level
  • Define the failure origin as well as further analysis steps and perform the analysis using a test bench while also guiding and mentoring other colleagues throughout the process
  • Use, adapt and develop our functional tests (i.e. application pattern) for reproducing the failure at our evaluation board
  • Build-up a special measurement setup, including an oscilloscope and a debugger, to stimulate the failure. Sometimes, the execution and debugging of customer code will also be required
  • Drive analysis reports and perform continuous updates to enable our "customer complaint organization" to provide regular status updates to our customers
  • Generate special test cases for the localization of defects in the device for Physical Failure Analysis preparation
  • Define concepts for test program improvements if required
  • Build up a technical focus area where you are our most experienced engineer, e.g. Non-Volatile-Memory (NVM), SRAM, Mixed-signal / analog, High-Speed-Interfaces or test-program development
Note: This job is in electrical failure engineering, not in physical failure analysis. This role involves electrical measuring the device, no chemical or optical activities.Your Profile
You are an exceptionally self-motivated individual with an effective working style who can work in complex working environments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Furthermore, you have a great ability to tackle unexpected challenges, and you see problems as an incentive for constant improvement rather than a source of frustration. As a loyal employee, you actively seek out knowledge from others and foster discussions to produce the best solutions. You contribute to a self-learning organization by building-up and keeping long-term know how of several product families. Finally, you help creating an open and collaborative work environment and your deep technical expertise enables you to train and mentor your colleagues. You are best equipped for this task if you have:
  • A Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics or other technical fields
  • At least 3 or more years of working experience in electrical failure analysis or a similar field
  • Proven experience in electrical measurement methods: DC measurements, usage of oscilloscopes and frequency generators; physical background for semiconductor measurements
  • Knowledge in software development for (automotive) microcontroller applications
  • Experience in microcontroller programming with C, Perl or Python
  • Knowhow about semiconductor structures and manufacturing (i.e. special knowledge of NVM and or highspeed interface)
  • Fluent in English, Italian would be an advantage
