- Develop and enhance products from conceptualization to production, making design improvements that meet performance and manufacturability criteria.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify improvements opportunities, starting from performing diagnosis to assess the current situation, then identify performance gaps and potentials and select the right skilled project team to make the improvements.
- Manage the testing and validation of the products, by performing prototype and final product testing to ensure functionality and quality and leading the pilot production (plan, supervise realization, track scheduling and cost).
- Plan and manage the projects on overall, ensuring completion on time and within budget (opex and capex), coordinating project team, track project status and results, removing and elevating project barriers.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and product specifications, and supervise the proper implementation of documents, especially product drawings for moulds and processes.
- Interact internally mainly with engineering teams such as project engineers, mold engineers, raw material engineers to meet with all engineering aspects of the project; and with multidisciplinary teams such as Marketing, Innovation, Manufacturing, Procurement and Sales to ensure product optimization meets expectations. Externally the product engineer will mainly interact with mold, plastic raw material and components suppliers and external laboratories.
- From a communication point of view he will be in charge of keeping the project stakeholders informed about the status, participate on project meetings providing insights and share best practice with other product engineers.
- A degree in Engineering is required.
- 3-8 years of previous experience in roles in engineering or production background are required, preferably in a multinational and structured company.
- Fluent English is required.
- Knowledge of project management approach or experience in managing projects is an important skill, to plan and manage product improvement projects, to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
- Technical skills and knowledge in mold design and polymers transformation processes are strongly recommended in order to develop a deep understanding of the product’s specifications to accurately identify improvements.
- The candidate should have the ability to use data analysis tools to assess the performance of the product and identify areas for improvement.
- Problem Solving attitude is important, in order to have the capability to identify recurring issues in the product and develop effective solutions to enhance its quality and functionality.
- A good collaborative and teamwork attitude is fundamental to work closely with production, quality, and customer service teams to implement product improvements.
- Effective communication skills are pivotal in order to clearly and concisely communicate proposed improvements and expected benefits to all stakeholders.
- A strong customer orientation is critical for gathering and analysing customer feedback to identify areas for product improvement.
- Flexibility is an important soft skill to adapt to changes in product requirements and market conditions, adjusting improvement strategies as needed.
