The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources and ecosystem services.With novel partnerships, the Alliance generates evidence and mainstreams innovations to transform food systems and landscapes so that they sustain the planet, drive prosperity, and nourish people in a climate crisis.The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future.About the positionBased in Rome, Italy at the Alliance Headquarters, and under the direct supervision of the Associate Team Leader, Office for Program Delivery (OPD), the Intern will play a pivotal role in the Grant Management Unit (GMU), serving as an integral part of the team and will support the administration and management of grants portfolios.ResponsibilitiesGrants Administration
  • Assist and support the Associate Coordinator for Asia in the management and monitoring of grant projects to ensure compliance with donor agreements and internal policies.
  • Support the signature process.
  • Set up of new grants in internal systems and communicate relevant compliance requirements to stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of reporting deadlines and requirements, communicating them effectively to internal teams.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization to ensure timely execution of contracts.
  • Assist with tracking information with donors regarding grant-related matters, including report submissions and project modifications.
  • Provide support to scientists in grant management and monitoring activities, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Provide support to the Rome-based team for Cross-cutting necessities.
  • Manage the hard copy-filing system and the digital filing.
Sub-grants Administration
  • Support with capacity assessments and due diligence reviews of potential partner organizations.
  • Support with the clearance process and digital filing.
  • Set up of sub-grants in the system.
  • Track and collect cleared reports for digital filing.
  • Process closure of Sub-grants in the system.
RequirementsRequirements
  • Ongoing or recently completed studies in international development, international relations, economics, business administration or related fields of studies.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal, communications and teamwork skills, courtesy and tact, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds.
  • Experience with information management systems is desirable.
BenefitsTerms of employmentApplicants must be currently enrolled in a university or graduate school and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or alternatively, have completed their university studies within the past six months. The internship shall be on a full-time basis for 8 months. The monthly stipend will be established in accordance with Bioversity International’s local standards and regulations.Please note that eligible applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Italy:
