The position is suited for engineers with around 5 years of experience in HVAC and mechanical building services, with exposure to data centers or mission-critical facilities. The role focuses on the design and coordination of HVAC and cooling systems, supporting data center and critical infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams.Key Responsibilities
- Support the design of HVAC and heat rejection systems for data centers and mission-critical environments, considering cooling loads, redundancy concepts, flexibility for phased expansion, airflow management, humidity control, and energy efficiency.
- Contribute to the selection and layout of cooling solutions such as CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, DX systems, in-row cooling, fan wall units, and basic containment strategies, based on project requirements.
- Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry tools, under the supervision of senior engineers when required.
- Assist in the design of chilled water plants, precision cooling systems, and mechanical ventilation systems, including preliminary equipment sizing and component selection.
- Prepare and support the development of technical drawings, specifications, calculation notes, and reports in English.
- Develop HVAC schematics, basic system architectures, single-line control diagrams, and P&IDs for mechanical systems.
- Support HVAC system modeling in Revit, coordinate with other disciplines, and assist with clash detection activities using Revit and/or Navisworks.
- Work closely with electrical, architectural, and structural teams to ensure coordinated and integrated design solutions.
- Stay updated on data center cooling technologies, HVAC best practices, and applicable international standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Approx. 5 years of professional experience in HVAC and mechanical systems design for buildings, industrial, or critical facilities.
- Exposure to data center, mission-critical, or high-reliability HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC and mechanical ventilation system design, Chilled water systems and basic cooling plant, Thermal load calculations and equipment sizing and ASHRAE and general HVAC design standards.
- Working knowledge of design tools such as AutoCAD and/or mechanical calculation software.
- Working knowledge of Revit for HVAC modeling.
- Familiarity with data center design guidelines (e.g. Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ANSI/BICSI).
- Exposure to installation or commissioning phases of HVAC systems.
- Basic understanding of control strategies and sequences of operation.
- Awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability principles.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Good level of English, written and spoken.
- Any relevant certifications (data center, energy, sustainability) are a plus but not required.
