The main activities involve:
- Co-design and co-engineering of technologies;
- (joint) Laboratory facilities, enabling validation and testing of technologies components, blocks, materials and strategies for multiscale power and several conditions;
- Safety and controls: introducing proper design for safe technologies in the hydrogen sector, with digital tools at the support of new products and/or new processes;
- Control development based on dynamic simulation;
- Verified with SiL (Software In the Loop) and Hil (Hardware In the Loop) approach, and Territorial implementation for technologies and different end uses in industry, mobility, and territorial ecosystem.
The working figure will be responsible for:
- Developing code and models capable of sizing, evaluating and optimizing H2 technologies and solutions in on-design and off-design conditions;
- Developing dynamic models of systems and components to evaluate their transient responses;
- Validating sub-component/system model in collaboration with the testing team;
- Collaborating with testing teams for the design of experiments;
- Simulating novel integration solutions and new layout concepts of H2 technologies and systems;
- Participating in preliminary design of systems for H2 technologies based on steady state analysis;
- Producing reports, deliverables and technical reviews;
- Participating in the preparation of the project's proposal.
- Master's degree in energy engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar;
- Strong knowledge of hydrogen system modelling and sizing;
- Basic understanding of optimization techniques applied to designing hydrogen systems;
- Proficient on modelica code and on the use of commercial software (DYMOLA, MODELON IMPACT, etc.;
- Knowledge of Python programming language or similar;
- Familiarity with Hydrogen technologies (electrolyzer, fuel cell, handling, etc.);
- A record of publications in relevant fields;
- Language assessment according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): level of knowledge required. Knowledge of English will be verified during the interview on a technical or scientific topic and must be equal to or exceed level B2. Definitions of levels can be found at the following link
- Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills.
- PhD degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in fields related to this call;
- Expertise in using process simulation software (e.g., Aspen, DWSIM, COCO, Modelica) for engineering and process analysis tasks (open-source software will be positively evaluated).

Furthermore, group tests and/or practical tests may be administered.Evaluation criteriaThe recruitment process will be based on the total points obtained by the evaluation of the qualifications/ expertise and the evaluation of the interview. A maximum of 40 points will be allocated for qualifications and expertise that the candidate expresses on the resume, while the interview will be worth up to 60 points.The interview scores will be assigned to candidates by the Commission according to the following criteria: the presentation of their research profile; the knowledge about the scientific domain, the experience in working for research projects and the language skills.Only candidates obtaining at least 25 points in the evaluation of the qualifications and the expertise will be admitted for the interview.The interview is considered as “passed” if the applicant obtains at least 45 points.The final score will be used to generate the final suitability list for each job position.Results of the selection processAll candidates will be notified via email once the selection process has been completed. The suitability list may be used to fill the position in case the successful candidate doesn't accept the job offer.
