- Scouting and innovation in the field of composite materials, with the aim of finding solutions in terms of weight, performance, quality, costs, volumes.
- Defining new methodologies for the development and application of materials, technologies, joining technique, fillers, collaborating with CAE simulation teams and Composite material laboratory for Material cards, building block approach, component and technology validation. In the early phase, defining the right technology and material lay up for each component application, considering all the following topics: geometry, volume, surface treatment, costs.
- Preparation and management of technical documents for: materials, processes, lay-up, ply-book, presentations.
- Strong collaboration with Body in White, Exteriors, and Interiors engineering departments during all project timelines for design for manufacturing, and responsibility to develop, validate and release components respecting project milestones.
- Strong collaboration with carbon fibre operative department for the definition and realization of prototype components to be used for testing.
- Identification of causes and technical solutions in order to reduce costs and to enhance quality.
- Costs estimates and budget analysis for new carbon fibre applications.
- Creation of standards, operative instructions, and technical documentation for processes related to Composite materials.
- Attending internal and external meetings with other departments for technical support for feasibility, process improvements, corrective actions for carbon fibre components Make or Buy.
- Analysis of tooling manufacturing processes from a technological point of view (tools, lay up, sequences, critical production phases), with focus on materials used and problems emerging from the production line.
- Direct collaboration and link with internal Production or with suppliers from proto phase to series, in order to develop the industrialization and manufacturing process according to technical requirements.
- Master or Bachelor Degree in Vehicle/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum of five years of experience
- Full proficiency in English; German is a plus but not mandatory
- Proven track record in Automotive field / Carbon fiber applications
- Knowledge in Engineering / Vehicle development
- Knowledge of Catia V5 for visualization activities of CAD models
- General knowledge for composites materials and processes
- Nesting Software experience ideal
