We were meant to fly.We are seeking a highly experienced and recognized subject matter expert in Control System and RAMT (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Testability) engineering to lead technical initiatives, mentor teams, and deliver measurable safety, business, and customer value.
This role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and organizational impact across projects and programs.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will demonstrate accountability for designing Engine Control System, supporting the entire certification process. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Establish, develop, and maintain a Reliability demonstration plan for the Avio Aero EECUs, adhering to regulatory, internal and customer requirements and standards.Develop the EECU Failure Hazard Analysis, Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, Failure Catalogue, Failure Rates and Critical Failure Rates, SSA (System Safety Assessment), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) and Common Cause Analysis, DAL Allocation for SW and CEH HW, following SAE ARP 4761 and SAE ARP 4754A guidelines.Develop the Testability demonstration plan and failure simulation list, the testability analysis and the testability demonstration report.Coaches, trains, and mentors team members within and across teams, fostering technical growth and professional development.Promotes a culture of psychological safety, ensuring all voices are heard, respected, and encouraged.Leads cross-functional teams, engaging other departments and external organizations (e.g., customers, agencies) to achieve shared objectives.Effectively delegates tasks to increase team capacity and capability while identifying team member strengths to efficiently lead problem-solving efforts.Demonstrates mastery in control systems engineering, including systems integration and adjacent technical domains.Synthesizes insights across technical areas to enable project execution and drive innovation.Applies systems thinking, risk abatement, and structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., TOPS8D, PSR) to deliver measurable results.Manages project planning, budgets, resourcing, and execution while resolving priority conflicts and escalating issues when necessary.Drives continuous improvement activities, including the development of standard work and application of SQDC prioritization.Communicates effectively in technical and strategic settings with diverse audiences, including internal teams, customers, and external organizations.Builds relationships with external entities (e.g., customers, agencies, consortia, suppliers) and influences business approaches to align with organizational priorities.Develops product/process strategies that balance technical and programmatic needs.Advocates for IP awareness, identifying opportunities within the organization and providing recommendations to design boards.Qualifications/RequirementsMaster’s degree in Engineering or other STEM disciplines with experience in Control System design.Previous experience in an equivalent engineering position.Extensive experience in system design in highly complex control systems in aerospace or in the industrial, automotive, medical sectorsAbility to prepare failure mode and effect analysis ( FMEA) and formulate mathematical models to identify units posing excessive failure risks, and recommends proposed design changesAbility to perform functional and signal point-to-point FMECA tasks to the subassembly levelProven experience with system engineering principles, e.g. V-lifecycle process including requirements engineering, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) methods, tools, validation & verification principles (keywords: DOORS, SCADE, Matlab\Simulink, Synergy, Python, NPSS, C++)Proven ability to lead teams, mentor individuals, and influence business approaches across stakeholders.Expertise in control systems engineering, systems integration, and adjacent technical domains.Skilled in engineering business processes (e.g., PCM tools, CIDs, Cert Reports) and structured problem-solving methodologies.Proficient in managing complex projects, balancing multiple priorities, and driving measurable outcomes.Passion for innovation and software innovation.Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken).Work VISA, according to local regulation, is requiredDesired CharacteristicsStrong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programClear thinking and diligent approach.What we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes smart-working and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
