Job DescriptionThe , part of the University of Notre Dame's , is seeking a temporary program coordinator, ideally a recent graduate from an undergrad or graduate level degree program. The Pulte Institute promotes human development and dignity among people worldwide through applied innovation, impact evaluation, education, and training programs that help build just and equitable societies. This program coordinator will support the 2024 (MWF) for Young African Leaders at Notre Dame.The MWF is a prestigious, intensive six-week program designed to provide young professionals from sub-Saharan African countries with relevant programming in a Leadership in Business Institute. It features numerous academic sessions, events, site visits, cultural activities, community service days, and other trips to organizations in Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. This year will be the 10th anniversary of the MWF at Notre Dame.Beginning in June, the Pulte Institute will host 25 of Africa's brightest emerging business leaders for a six-week leadership institute, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The Mandela Washington Fellows will engage in practical academic sessions, site visits, leadership training, community service, organized cultural/civic activities, and networking to maximize learning and exposure to a variety of experiences and ideas. Notre Dame Mandela Washington Fellows will participate in the Leadership in Business Institute, which is designed to enable participants to unleash their creativity and provide them with a set of technical skills, capabilities, competencies, and the moral character needed to develop, grow, lead and sustain competitive enterprises in their home countries and communities.The Notre Dame MWF Program Coordinator will help lead the daily MWF activities that take place inside the classroom and throughout the enriching activities and site visits to local and regional businesses and organizations. This will include preparing program material prior to the Fellows' arrival, welcoming the Fellows upon their arrival in Chicago, working as a team to ensure institute academics are on-track, attending activities and functions (daytime & evening), providing direct support to the Administrative and Academic Directors during the program, helping with any needs that may arise during program events, as well as planning and facilitating off-campus visits and events. While this is a temporary position, the program coordinator will be a core member of the MWF team and will be given greater responsibility than the MWF student intern. They will be looked upon to lead various elements of the Fellowship and to take on tasks requiring independent decision making and implementation. This is a temporary summer position with an employment period of June 10 through August 2, 2024.The ideal candidate would possess intimate knowledge of Notre Dame and the city of South Bend, as well as experience in program management and education. A working vehicle and driver's license is a plus, but not required. This role will require a bit of everything, and will often be spent performing small tasks in order to help the Fellows in many capacities in and outside of the classroom. The selected individual for this opportunity will gain experience and knowledge about International Development, numerous African cultures, and the process of organizing an intensive program.   • Must have a Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have at least one year of demonstrated experience with educational programs, international fellowships, or student leadership programs.
  • Must be highly flexible and adaptable.
  • Must be an organized individual with exemplary time management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in nonprofit management, international development, or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate will possess an interest in international cultures, demonstrate cultural competency, and have a desire to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
