- Explores, identifies, and acquires data sources to determine their suitability for risk assessments, audits, and investigations. Enables broader use of data sources by applying quality methods to structure, clean, format, parse, and standardize for analytical use.
- Establishes a close working relationship with members of the OIGA team and key clients to leverage Data Science methods to support their assurance activities with solutions that assist them in accomplishing their mandates.
- Designs and develops Data Science products to reveal insights and provide an understanding or knowledge of the data that would otherwise not be detected without the application of advanced analytical methods such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, predictive analytics, data/text mining, Natural Language Processing, statistics, and the use of relevant algorithms and computational approaches.
- Promotes the use of Data Science solutions, for instance by organizing ad-hoc trainings to teach OIGA auditors how to best use visualizations developed within the team.
- Designs and develops custom visualizations and presentations to reveal the findings of analysis for clients, suitable for all forms of production (including briefings, reports, documentation to OIGA, interactive interfaces, and publication of quality outputs).
- At the request of OIGA management and in coordination with the Data Science Team Leader, participates in internal audits and investigations, assisting and performing tasks under the supervision of auditors and investigators, producing findings and reports within the stipulated timeline and quality requirements.
- Guides, trains, and supervises more junior staff with function.
- Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Astrophysics, or a related field
- 5 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in Data Science and/or Data Engineering
- Fluency (level C) in English language.
- Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).
- Advanced knowledge of Python
- Advanced knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms & tools
- Advanced knowledge of SQL
- Knowledge of data visualization tools & strong visualization skills
- Knowledge of databases & data modelling techniques
- Experience designing & implementing ETL processes
- Strong communication skills
- Desirable: Experience analyzing data in support of oversight activities
- This is an International Professional position and is open to all nationalities.
- Mobility is and continues to be a core contractual requirement in WFP. This position is however classified as “non-rotational” which means the incumbent shall not be subject to the regular reassignment process unless the position is reclassified as rotational. The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year. This position is open to both internal and external candidates.
